A Colourful Celebration of Wealth, Wellness & New Beginnings with BMO

Updated: Aug 25

On a vibrant Saturday in Toronto, The Colouring Bar partnered with BMO to host a one-of-a-kind community art experience focused on creativity, connection, and financial empowerment for families and youth.

Led by artist and founder Alicia Bucknor, the event beautifully merged artistic expression with real-life education. At the heart of the celebration was BMO’s vision: to teach financial literacy and honour a major milestone—opening a young client’s first bank account.

💙 A Partnership Rooted in Purpose

BMO believes in investing in the next generation. This event was designed to make financial literacy approachable, fun, and meaningful. Through hands-on art activities, families not only learned about saving and banking—they celebrated the power of building wealth early and creating a foundation for a bright financial future.

A Creative Experience for All Ages

The event featured interactive stations that brought joy and intentionality to every guest:

  • Colouring Station: Guests coloured therapeutic, wellness-focused illustrations from The Colouring Bar’s signature collection.

  • Craft Crown Station: Children created royal crowns—an activity that uplifted their sense of self-worth and royalty.

  • Community Canvas: A collective art piece that invited everyone to leave a meaningful mark—representing unity, creativity, and the beauty of collaboration.

  • Colouring Can Masterpieces: As a keepsake, select guests who opened a bank account got to paint their own mini canvas, documenting this important step toward independence and abundance.

"Blue Jay Blessings" – The Symbol of Freedom & Financial Confidence

The featured artwork by Alicia Bucknor, titled “Blue Jay Blessings,” served as the visual heartbeat of the event. The canvas showcased a blue jay holding a hundred-dollar bill in its beak—a powerful symbol of:

  • Freedom

  • Wealth

  • Financial confidence

  • Generational abundance

The blue jay represents clarity, boldness, and trust—values that align with starting a financial journey early in life. The $100 bill reflects opportunity and future prosperity. This artwork was more than a painting—it was a declaration of faith, growth, and success for every young client in attendance.
